12B-2 Reinforced and Corrosion-Resistant Roller Chains According to DIN 8187 (B-Series)
12B-2 reinforced and corrosion‑resistant roller chains (3/4″ × 7/16″), also known as high‑strength corrosion‑protected or anti‑corrosion chains, are a special type of duplex drive chains. Like standard roller chains, they are manufactured according to ISO 606 (DIN 8187), meaning they belong to the European B‑series.
The chains consist of outer links with pins and inner links with enhanced bushes, on which freely rotating rollers are mounted. The chains are made of steel with a special surface treatment that provides enhanced corrosion resistance. The specific method of corrosion protection (such as galvanizing or nickel‑plating) varies by chain type and manufacturer.
Thanks to their design and the materials used, they offer significantly higher fatigue strength than standard series chains.
