Custom Made Flat Belt Pulleys
Flat belt pulleys are designed for power and speed transmission through a flat belt. The construction of flat pulleys is based on the DIN 111 standard.
The most common designs are flat pulleys with a rounded contact surface. The rounding ensures the centering of the flat belt in operation. For some transmissions, flat belt pulleys with a cylindrical contact surface or rounded with an outer shoulder (with a collar) can be used.
Gray cast iron flat belt pulleys are manufactured for mounting on shafts using Taper Lock conical bushes or with a cylindrical bore and key. Flat belt pulleys can be made on request from steel, aluminum or plastic according to the drawing or specific requirements.
Flat Belt Pulley Types Overview
Pulley Type | Description | Illustration |
---|---|---|
Solid Flat Belt Pulleys |
Solid pulleys are machined from solid material or manufactured as castings. They are suitable for use with smaller dimensions. |
|
Flat Belt Pulleys with Round Holes |
Pulleys with round holes are machined in the case of smaller sizes, or produced as castings in the case of medium and large pulleys. Design with round holes reduces weight, although the pulleys still have a compact shape and are suitable even for high speeds. |
|
Flat Belt Pulleys with Shaped Holes |
Pulleys with shaped holes produced as castings are suitable for medium and large dimensions. Design with shaped holes reduces weight, although the pulleys still have a compact shape and are suitable even for high speeds. |
|
Flat Belt Pulleys with Lugs |
Pulleys with lugs are produced as castings and are suitable for medium to largest dimensions. Design with lugs significantly reduces weight. Caution – pulleys are only suitable up to a certain speed (most often up to 30 m/s). At higher speeds, the pulley may break and rupture. |
|
Split Flat Belt Pulleys |
Split pulleys are manufactured as castings or by machining. They are designed for gears where it is not possible to mount a conventional pulley. They are mainly used as complex large pulleys. |
|
Special Flat Belt Pulleys |
Special pulleys are manufactured as castings, workpieces or weldments. They are used in cases where it is not possible to use conventional constructions or their special design is required. These are most often complex medium to largest pulleys. |
Pulleys Fields of Use
Flat belt pulleys are designed for all types of flat belts.
They are typically used in compressor drives, pumps, blowers, machine tools, textile machines, the paper, chemical and automotive industries, and many other industries.
Pulleys Material
Gray cast iron (most often GG 20 – GG 25), ductile iron, steel, aluminum alloy, plastic or other materials of adequate strength.
